The Cambridges Begin Scandinavia Tour in Sweden

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge kicked off their tour of Scandinavia on Tuesday in Sweden, where they met with members of the Swedish Royal Family.

First, William and Catherine – rugged up against the cold Swedish winter – attended a bandy hockey game in central Stockholm, learning about the sport from youngsters who play it. The royal pair were also given the opportunity to take three penalty shots on goal – William scored two, beating his wife who only got one past the goalkeeper.

It was then on to the Royal Palace for lunch with King Carl XVI Gustaf, Queen Silvia, Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel. The Swedish Crown Princess Couple later joined the Duke and Duchess – wearing a forest green dress and matching fur-trimmed coat by Catherine Walker – for a walkabout through the streets surrounding the Palace to Stortorget Square, the oldest public square in Stockholm. The royal quartet happily greeted waiting crowds, posing for photos and shaking hands.

Their destination was the Nobel Museum, where William, Kate and their hosts were informed about Swedish science efforts, before heading over to ArkDes, the Swedish national centre for architecture and design.

In the evening, a black-tie dinner was held at the British Ambassador’s residence that was attended by Prime Minster Stefan Löfven and actors Alicia Vikander and Stellan Skarsgård.

The Cambridges will remain in Sweden on Wednesday, before spending Thursday and Friday in Norway.
