Harry and Meghan’s Afternoon in Brixton
For their second official engagement as a betrothed pair, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle visited Brixton on Tuesday afternoon, where they spent time at Reprezent 107.3FM hearing about the radio station’s work to support local youths.
The pair – who received a hearty welcome from the cheering crowds gathered outside Pop Brixton, the community radio station’s base, which appeared to catch Meghan off-guard – met with staff and on-air talent who work with Reprezent, which runs a training program designed to “help young people develop and socialise through radio” and has helped over 4,000 youths since its inception in 2008. It’s aim is to encourage people to develop skills that will help further their education and employment.
Harry and Meghan also listened to the radio show of 17-year-old Gloria Beyi, with Meghan – dressed in a pair of black Burberry trousers, a black jumper from Marks and Spencer (which brought surprise to the Twittersphere!) and an oatmeal-toned coat from Smythe – telling her she could “see why your show is so popular… you are so thoughtful and your approach is so engaging”.
As they departed the radio station after about an hour inside, Harry and Meghan spent some time shaking hands with members of the crowd.
