Dutch King and Queen Begin Official Visit to the Dutch Caribbean

On Thursday November 30, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima started a three-day official visit to St. Eustatius, Saba and St Maarten, islands of the Dutch Caribbean.

Upon their arrival at the F. D. Roosevelt Airport on the island of St Eustatius, the Royal Couple was received by Julian Woodley, Lieutenant Governor of St. Eustatius. Then the King and the Queen paid a visit to the St Eustatius Solar Park. This solar park was put into use last November 15 and provides around 46% of the island’s annual power demand.

Afterwards the Royal Couple visited the residents of a house that was repaired with the help of the Dutch Government after the catastrophic Hurricane Irma which occurred last September.

Later King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima went to the Gertrude Judson Public Library where they had meetings with representatives of organizations among which St Eustatius Care Center, Sports Association, Mega D Youth Foundation and The New Green House.

In late afternoon the Royal Couple left St Eustatius for Saba, where tomorrow they will continue the official visit.
