Queen Máxima Visits Refugee Company
Today, Tuesday November 28, Queen Máxima paid a working visit to the Refugee Company in Amsterdam.
Refugee Company is a social enterprise supported by The Oranje Fonds that aims to provide opportunities for newcomers in the Netherlands, empowering refugees with work experiences, finding a paid job or setting up their own company. With the help of volunteers, companies and the municipality of Amsterdam, Refugee Company helps refugees to create a new life, new work opportunities and to blend in the new community.
Queen Máxima toured the various projects of the organization and was informed about them. She visited a studio that produces handmade textiles and clothes, and a printing studio that creates hoodies and t-shirts. The Queen also visited the restaurant and the bar where newcomers are trained to cook, or to become waiters or baristas.
King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima are patrons of the Oranje Fonds.
