Death of Princess Isabel of Brazil
Princess Isabel of Orleans and Braganza, member of the former Imperial family of Brazil, has died on November 5th in Rio de Janeiro at the age of 73. This was announced yesterday by her elder brother, Dom Luis and on behalf of the entire family.
The princess was the daughter of Prince Pedro Henrique and his wife Princess Maria of Bavaria. She was the fourth of the couple’s twelve children. She was named after Princess Isabel, heiress of the last emperor of Brazil. The princess never married and has no descendants.
The princess has been buried privately in Vassouras on November 6th. She has been buried in the tomb of the Imperial family on the cemetery of the brotherhood of Our Lady of Conception.
