King Michael’s Health Worsening, Princess Margareta Returns To Switzerland

A statement issued by the Romanian Royal House today reveals that the health of 96-year-old former King Mihai I has “worsened considerably”.

“King Michael’s general state of health has worsened considerably, with a significant decline in his physical strength,” the statement reads. His family “will have a series of meetings with His Majesty’s doctors” in the coming days, “to discuss the King’s current medical treatment and obtain their advice in the present circumstances.”

The former King’s eldest daughter, Crown Princess Margareta, returned to Switzerland, where her father lives, on Sunday afternoon with her husband, Prince Radu.

In early 2016, the former King was diagnosed with leukaemia, and his health has been fragile ever since.
