Happy 50th Birthday to Hereditary Princess Sophie
The Hereditary Princess of Liechtenstein has turned 50 years old today. The princess was born in Munich as HRH Duchess Sophie Elizabeth Marie Gabrielle in Bavaria, Princess of Bavaria. She is the eldest of five daughters of Duke Max Emmanuel in Bavaria and the Swedish Countess Elisabeth Douglas. Her uncle Prince Franz of Bavaria is the present head of the royal family of Bavaria. The duchess and her sisters grew up in Wildbad Kreuth.
In 1993 the duchess married hereditary prince Alois of Liechtenstein in Vaduz. The couple had 4 children: Prince Joseph Wenzel (1995), Princess Marie Caroline (1996), prince Georg Antonius (1999) and Prince Nikolaus (2000)
The princess is a patron of the Liechtenstein Red Cross, the Liechtenstein Animal Welfare Association and the Pricness Sophie Foundation for Woman and Child.
Because neither her uncle Franz, not her father Max Emanuel have sons, the princess and her descendants will inherit the Jacobite claim to England, Scotland and Ireland.
