Queen Letizia Alone to Dinner with Prize Winners
Queen Letizia attended the dinner for the prize winners of the “Mariano de Cavia”, “Luca de Tena” and “Mingote” journalism awards in Madrid. The Queen presided over the dinner on her own for the first time.
King Felipe VI was scheduled to attend but cancelled due to the political situation in Spain. At the same time that the dinner was held, the Spanish government was deciding over the next steps to take in relation to Catalonia. The Queen said that her husband sent his affections and hoped that people would understand the reason for his absence.
It was the 97th time that the prizes have been handed out. The event is organized by Spain’s ABC newspapers.
