Jordan’s Crown Prince Graduates from Sandhurst
Proud parents King Abdullah II and Queen Rania of Jordan attended on Friday the Sovereign’s Parade at the Royal Military Academy of Sandhurst. The couple witnessed the graduation parade of their eldest son, Crown Prince Hussein, who officially completed a year of intensive military training at the prestegious Academy.
Prince Hussein, 23, is currently holding the rank of first lieutenant in the Jordanian Armed Forces. He graduated last year from Georgetown University with a degree in international history.
King Abdullah II, a Sandhurst alumni himself, represented Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom as the Reviewing Officer in this year’s parade. He addressed the newly commissioned officers during the ceremony talking about his own memories as a cadet, standing where they are now.
His Majesty also reminded the officers that “it is just as important to remember the many who helped when things were toughest friends and family who cheered you on, from the day you arrived here, with your ironing boards. On behalf of Her Majesty, I thank them most sincerely. And I know how important they will be to you, as you go out into this hugely exciting, challenging, and, at times, dangerous career”.
The parade was also attended by King Abdullah’s mother Princess Muna Al Hussein, as well as his younger children, Princess Iman, Princess Salma and Prince Hashem.
