Duke of Edinburgh Performs Final Royal Engagement
On August 2, the Duke of Edinburgh met with the Royal Marines as the Captain General for his last official engagement before he retires.
It is exactly sixty-four years since Prince Philip was appointed as the Captain General of the Royal Marines after his late father-in-law, George VI.
Prince Philip spoke to members of the Royal Marines, telling them “you should all be locked up”. Corporal Jamie Thompson said “it’s special that it’s the last thing he’s doing and to be part of that is a real honour”.
Prince Harry is expected to take over his grandfather’s position as the Captain General.
