Queen Silvia Awarded The Bavarian Order of Merit
Sweden’s Queen Silvia was awarded with the Bavarian Order of Merit on Monday in a ceremony at the Prinz-Carl-Palais in Munich.
The Order was presented by Bavaria’s Ministerpräsident Horst Seehofer, who decided to honour the Queen with the Order because of her “international social commitment and special connection to Bavaria”.
Queen Silvia – who was joined at the ceremony by King Carl XVI Gustaf as well as Prince Leopold and Princess Ursula of Bavaria – is one a small group of people who had the Order, there are currently 1,637 individuals with the order (only 2,000 living people can hold the order at one time).
