On Thursday morning, Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip were out and about bright and early, as they visited the new headquarters of the Metropolitan Police, New Scotland Yard, on the Victoria Embankment.

Greeted by Commissioner Cressida Dick, the Queen and the Duke were shown around the £81.9m building. They saw a bomb disposal robot do a test run, before meeting with officers and search dogs. Queen Elizabeth and the Duke also met with police officers who were first on the scene during the recent Westminster and London Bridge terrorist attacks.

The Queen and the Duke had been originally scheduled to officially open the building on March 23, but the visit was postponed due to the Westminster Bridge terrorist attack the day before that killed four people, including PC Keith Palmer.

The royals were shown a memorial book for PC Palmer during their visit.
