Crown Princess Victoria Turns 40 – Her Life In Pictures (1997-2006)
The third blog entry in our retrospective of Crown Princess Victoria’s life covers the period when she began her public engagements in earnest, after she completed her education.
December 1997: Crown Princess Victoria with her great-aunt, Princess Lilian, at a banquet during the State Visit of Russian President Boris Yeltsin. Earlier that year, the Swedish Royal Court had confirmed the Princess was suffering from an eating disorder (anorexia); she received treatment in the US in 1998. “I felt like an accelerating train, going right down… during the whole period…It felt like everything in my life and around me was controlled by others. March 2005: Cuddling with a wombat during an official visit to Australia
December 2006: Attending the Nobel Prize Ceremony in the Baden Fringe Tiara
