Dutch Royals Host Summer Photo Session At The Kaag Lakes
The King of the Netherlands and his family today participated in their annual summer photo session, this year held at the Kagerplassen, in Warmond.
Arriving by boat down the Lakes, King Willem-Alexander, Queen Máxima and the three Princesses – Amalia, Alexia and Ariane – provided some “typically Dutch” photographs as they posed with a large windmill in the background across the water.
King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima spent twenty minutes addressing the media after the session, speaking on a range of topics. They called themselves “proud parents” as they informed the press the three Princesses had successfully completed the school year (Princess Alexia, in particular, will next year begin secondary school).
When asked about how it feels to be married for 15 years (Willem-Alexander and Maxima celebrated the anniversary in February) and if there were any ‘secrets’ to a long-lasting marriage, the King replied that theirs was “no different than in other, non-royal marriages. A good marriage is based on humour, conviviality, making time for each other. It’s not always nice weather, it’s raining too.”
Queen Máxima added that it helped they “share the same passions, especially the passion for our work. We do that with verve and as a team. That’s very nice.”
