Swedish Court Mourns Death of Countess Alice Trolle-Wachtmeister
It was announced Monday that Countess Alice Trolle-Wachtmeister, the former Mistress of the Robes of the Swedish Royal Court, has passed away at her home in Skåne, Trolle-Ljungby Castle. She was 91.
“Alice was a very close friend to both us and our family; with warmth, loyalty and wisdom, she has always been a great support,” King Carl XVI Gustaf said in a statement following her death today.
A statement from Crown Princess Victoria referred to the Countess as a “rare, wise and warm person” who “leaves a big gap behind”.
Countess Alice served as Mistress of the Robes from 1994 to 2015, during which time she was the highest ranking non-royal female in Sweden. She was previously a Statsfrau from 1974 to 1993.
The Countess is survived by her husband, Count Hans Gabriel Trolle-Wachtmeister.
