Prince Frederik Attends Team Danmark Donation Hand-Over
Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark was present on Monday at the Bagsværd Rostadion as Team Danmark received a donation of 50million DKK from the Salling Foundation to assist in their preparations for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
The donation will allow Team Danmark to “make targeted investments and develop set-up, methods and materials” which will give the country’s athletes “decisive margins in the fight for medals” according to the Team’s president, Frank Jensen.
Team Danmark’s main objective is to ensure Denmark is ranked in the top 5 nations with a population of less than 10 million, as well as ranking in the top 25 of all nations.
Crown Prince Frederik delivered a speech at the event, and later spoke with DR about his continued role in the International Olympic Committee: “We must continually support the Olympic Games, as clear and strong as possible. It is the world’s biggest sporting event and it does not get by smoothly alone.”
The Crown Prince has been a member of the International Olympic Committee since October 2009.
