A New Granddaughter for Princess Basma bint Talal

Jordan’s Princess Basma bint Talal has become a grandmother for the sixth time, announcing on social media her younger son has welcomed his first child.

“My son Saad and his wife Zeina were blessed today by the arrival of their daughter, Basma. As her grandmother, I am completely overjoyed,” the Princess said in the announcement, which featured a photo of herself with her new granddaughter.

The infant was born on Saturday. She is the first child of  Saad Walid, Princess Basma’s son with second husband Walid Al Kurdi, and Zeina Al Kurdi. The couple were married in May 2016. Baby Basma is the Princess’s fifth granddaughter.

Princess Basma is a paternal aunt of King Abdullah II.
