Duke of Cambridge Reviews Irish Guards Ahead of Trooping
At Horse Guards Parade today in London, the Duke of Cambridge took the Colonel’s Review ahead of next week’s Trooping the Colour, the official celebration of Her Majesty the Queen’s birthday.
Prince William, astride his mount Wellesley, inspected the troops of the Irish Guards, the regiment of which he is Royal Colonel. He then joined the 1,400 troops from across the Household Division that will be taking part in Trooping the Colour next Saturday in a complete practice from Horse Guards Parade to Buckingham Palace.
The Irish Guards will be the regiment trooping the colour in front of the Queen for this year’s event. It is the first time they have done so since Prince William has been their Royal Colonel.
