Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip Attend A Service For OBE

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh attended a service today at St. Paul’s Cathedral in honor of the 100th anniversary of the Order of the British Empire.

The order was established in 1917 by King George V to reward outstanding contributions during World War One. Today, it’s rewarded to people for contributions to arts, science, charity and public service. Over 2,000 individuals have received the Order of the British Empire awards, from Knights and Dames to those who have received a CBE, OBE or MBE.

The Queen is the sovereign of the Order of the British Empire and The Duke of Edinburgh is the Grand Master.
