Princess Mako’s First Official Duty Post-Engagement Confirmation
Japan’s Princess Mako today made her first official public appearance since last week’s announcement that she is engaged to be married to her long-time boyfriend. The Princess joined her parents, Prince Akishino and Princess Kiko, at the National Museum of Nature and Science in Tokyo.
The royal grouping viewed a special exhibition entitled ‘Treasures of the Natural World – Best of London’s Natural History Museum’ that consists of 180 pieces of “scientific, historic and cultural importance” on loan from the Natural History Museum in London.
Last Tuesday, the Japanese media reported that Princess Mako – eldest grandchild of the Emperor and Empress – was engaged to Kei Komuro. The news was confirmed by the Imperial Household Agency, with a formal engagement due to take place in the coming months.
