Gratulerer Med Dagen Norge! Norway Celebrates National Day

The Norwegian Royal Family has helped the country celebrate National Day with traditional festivities at Skaugum and in Oslo.

Crown Prince Haakon (who has already started to grow his beard back!) and Crown Princess Mette-Marit with their two children, Princess Ingrid Alexandra and Prince Sverre Magnus kicked off the day on the steps of their home in Asker, watching the Asker Municipality children’s parade go past. The family – joined by their pet dogs – were dressed in traditional bunads.

Later, the King and Queen along with the Crown Princely Family gathered on the balcony of the Royal Palace of Oslo to greet the parade of students from schools in the Oslo Municipality. 121 schools this year took part in the parade.

National Day is celebrated on May 17 each year in Norway, to mark the signing of the Constitution of Norway in 1814.
