Party At The Palace: “Gardens Have Not Seen This Much Fun, Ever!”
Over 850 children who have had a parent killed while they were serving in the British Armed Forces were invited to a special garden party at Buckingham Palace on Saturday afternoon. The event was hosted by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry.
Featuring face painting, cake and cookie decorating stalls, magicians, water balloons, science experiments and lots of music and dancing zones, Prince Harry declared that “the Buckingham Palace gardens have not seen this much fun, ever” as he spoke to the large group towards the end of the event.
“We’re here to celebrate you. We’re here to remind you that we as a family, and as a nation will never, ever forget the sacrifices that all of you here have made,” he told them.
Prince William, the Duchess of Cambridge – who eagerly got involved in launching water balloons onto the grass from the Palace steps – and Prince Harry spent time speaking with the children and their families, hearing their stories.
To end the party, a display team from the RAF Falcons parachuted into the Palace gardens to the delight of the children.
