A Royal Inauguration For The Bhutan Red Cross Society
The Queen of Bhutan officially inaugurated the Bhutan Red Cross Society on Monday May 8, International Red Cross & Red Crescent Day.
Queen Jetsun Pema, who is the Society’s President, said that she was “confident that the Bhutan Red Cross Society will greatly supplement the efforts of the Royal Government of Bhutan and various other organisations who have pledged their time and service in the spirit of equality, active participation and volunteerism” to the country.
The BRCS has been recently formed after its creation was approved by the Bhutanese National Assembly in November last year.
The inauguration was attended by Bhutan’s Prime Minister, Lyonchoen Tshering Tobgay, and the Vice-President of the International Federation of the Red Cross and the International Committee of the Red Crescent, Annemarie Huber-Hotz.
