King Harald Marks Liberation and Veterans Day
King Harald of Norway marked Liberation and Veterans Day at the Akershus Fortress on Monday. He was joined by Prime Minister Erna Solberg.
The King and Prime Minister both laid wreaths at the National Monument.
During the ceremony, King Harald also awarded the War Cross with Sword to Marinejegerkommandoen Operator Ken Andersen for his “heroic advancements that have undoubtedly hampered loss of human life and further damage to infrastructure”. These efforts were during Andersen’s stationing in Afghanistan in 2015, where he came to people’s aid following two terrorist attacks in Kabul.
