A Rare Public Engagement By The Duchess of Kent

The Duchess of Kent made a rare public appearance this week, as she visited Beaconsfield High School in Buckinghamshire to help celebrate their 50th anniversary.

Katharine was given, fittingly, a musical welcome by students from the all-girls school, the choir and string orchestra performing several musical numbers for their royal visitor. The Duchess then unveiled a plaque marking the opening of the school’s new advanced science labs, which she was given a tour of.

The school was opened in October 1966 by the Duchess herself. Rachel Smith, the school’s Head, said the Duchess’s visit was “a real honour” and the staff and students “were thrilled” to welcome her.
