At the Tivoli Hotel and Congress Centre on Wednesday afternoon, Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark presented the first edition of the DenmarkBridge Award. The Crown Prince is patron of DenmarkBridge.

Genmab was the winner of the inaugural award, for their successful work in “mapping diseases and developing antibodies for…life-threatening disorders”. Prince Frederik presented the award to the organisation’s co-founder, Jan van de Winkel, with a large smile and a joke that the award was “a bit heavy”.

The purpose of the award is to honour a Danish company or innovative project that has “created success with innovation and technology” while ensuring “better access to knowledge, networks and capital in Silicon Valley”. DenmarkBridge focuses on “strengthening the bridge between Danish business and development in Silicon Valley”.
