The Countess of Wessex in Estonia, Day One
Starting Tuesday, the Countess of Wessex undertakes a two-day working visit to Estonia. The purpose of her trip is to visit the 5th Battalion The Rifles, a regiment Sophie is Royal Colonel of.
On May 2, Sophie was in Tallinn, Estonia’s capital, visiting the Pallipõnn Pre-School which combines education for special needs children with other pupils in their age group. The Countess received a warm welcome from the school children, the majority of whom were waving mini Union Jacks, before joining them for a tea party and other activities.
It was then over to Stenbock House for a meeting with the Estonian Prime Minister, Jüri Ratas, before a visit to the Estonian Girl Guides where Sophie helped make s’mores.
The Countess’s first day finished with a meeting with the Estonian President, Kersti Kaljulaid.
