A private birthday party for King Willem-Alexander’s 50th birthday was held last night at the Royal Mews at Noordeinde Palace in The Hague.

Two photographs of the King with Queen Máxima and their three daughters were released this morning by the RVD. Few photos of the royal guests attending the festivities were published, as many of them were homed in Noordeinde Palace for their stay.

Spain’s King Felipe and Queen Letizia were the only foreign guests that were seen dressed in their gala finery, as they stayed at the Hôtel Des Indes instead of the Palace. Among the foreign royals believed to be attending the celebrations were: the King and Queen of the Belgians, the Grand Duke and Duchess of Luxembourg and Hereditary Grand Duchess Stephanie, Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary of Denmark, Crown Prince Haakon, Crown Princess Mette-Marit and Princess Martha-Louise of Norway, Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel of Sweden, the Earl and Countess of Wessex, and Crown Prince and Princess Pavlos of Greece (some of whom were seen arriving to the Palace in buses or cars, others who posted on their own social media accounts).

Earlier in the day, the King’s royal guests participated in a sports day on a beach nearby.
