Crown Princess Margareta Addresses the Romanian Parliament
Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Margareta of Romania yesterday addressed a solemn session of the Romanian Parliament in connection with the jubilee celebration of “Iasi – Capital of the Kingdom of Romania 1916-1918 and the City Of the Great Union”. It was 100 years ago in 1917 that the Romanian Senate and Assembly of Deputies met in the city of Iasi and adopted the reforming laws of the Romanian State – those laws being the Agrarian Law and the Electoral Law.
Also in attendance were Prince Radu and Princess Maria.

During her address, the Princess spoke of commemorating the past as a way of inspiring the future. The Princess also spoke of how her country could inspire others:
“in an uncertain world full of dangers Romania is an intelligent, stable country, which treasures continuity, which builds the future on the foundations of the past, and which is capable of providing the rest of the continent with an example of measure and balance“
Afterwards in the foyer of the Chamber of Deputies, Princess Margareta helped launch a new commemorative stamp and medal in hour of the Centenary.
