Happy Koningsdag From Tilburg!
The Dutch Royal Family has celebrated Koningsdag for 2017 in the southern city of Tilburg today.
King Willem-Alexander – who today turns 50 – led the family by train to Tilburg, where they happily participated in the activities planned by the city for Koningsdag highlighting their culture, including sports, music and dancing, and a spot of knitting for Queen Máxima.
Attending the event this year were Prince Constantijn and Princess Laurentien, Prince Maurits (whose desire to greet as many of the crowd as possible led to a delay in the official proceedings) and Princess Marilène, Prince Bernhard and Princess Annette, Prince Pieter-Christiaan and Princess Anita, and Prince Floris and Princess Aimée.
During the final portion of the day, a concert full of artists from the Brabant region, King Willem-Alexander thanked the Tilburg people for the turn out and their enthusiasm: “This is Tilburg, this is the heart of Brabant. You have gone above yourself. It was a party to celebrate my birthday here with you all.”
