The Global Academy in Hayes, west London was officially opened this morning by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry. The Academy has been designed to provide practical skills education to teenagers who are looking at a career in the media.

William, Kate and Harry spent time being shown the different classrooms in the Academy and speaking with students about their passions, the skills they are learning at the Academy (which began classes in September last year) and how these skills will aid them in a media career.

They also watched as a group of students helped put together the Heart Radio breakfast show, William joking that it must be initially funny “to be locked in a box talking to a big red microphone.”

The royal trio also participated in a roundtable discussion with students and several radio hosts, including Spice Girl Emma Bunton, on the topic of mental health, tying the visit to their Heads Together campaign.
