“Smash It!” Harry’s Message of Support for London Marathon Runners
Prince Harry this morning encouraged participants in this year’s London Marathon to “smash it” as he opened the 2017 London Marathon Expo at the ExCeL Centre in London’s Docklands.
He wrote his message of support on the encouragement wall, after having the assistance of 5-year-old Mellisa Howse to cut the ribbon allowing runners to enter the Expo and collect their race numbers and goodies. A dozen runners were given their numbers and Heads Together headbands by Harry as he helped man the collection desk for a brief period.
Harry then spent time with runners who will be running the marathon on Sunday specifically for the Heads Together campaign, which is the charity for this year’s marathon. The campaign’s aim is to remove the stigma surrounding mental health.
The Prince opened the Expo in his role as Patron of the London Marathon Charitable Trust.
