Crown Princess Victoria Lays Flowers At Terror Site
Swedish Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel have this morning visited the site of yesterday’s terror attack in central Stockholm.
The heir to the throne, who is currently acting as Regent until her father, King Carl XVI Gustaf, returns to Sweden following a trip to Brazil, laid a bouquet of red roses along fencing blocking the public from accessing parts of Drottninggatan as Prince Daniel watched on.
The Princess was in tears as she laid the flowers, and then gave a statement to the press. “Society has been a tremendous force, we are opposed to this and we want to resist this and are united. Swedish society is based on huge trust, solidarity and cohesion. We’re going to come out of this stronger,” Crown Princess Victoria said, adding she felt “huge sadness and emptiness” in the wake of the attack.
Four people were killed when a truck was driven at high speed down the pedestrian mall before crashing into a department store. The perpetrator has been arrested by Swedish police.
