Twenty Years of The Spanish Geographical Society Celebrated With Queen Sofia
Queen Sofia of Spain has attended the Spanish Geographical Society’s annual awards ceremony on Thursday at the Mutua Madrileña Auditorium in Madrid. The ceremony was also used to celebrate the Society’s twentieth anniversary.
The Queen – wearing a simple navy blue dress and blazer with a set of colourful jewels – helped present awards in the categories of photography, travel, research, communication and innovation, as well as the overall ‘Spanish Geographical Society Award’ in both national and international fields.
The Spanish Geographical Society’s purpose is to expand knowledge on geography, history and social aspects of Spain’s make-up, promote Spain’s role in “the discovery of the planet” and foster human contact and understanding.
