I Should Be So Lucky: Kylie Minogue Receives Britain-Australia Award From Prince Philip
The Duke of Edinburgh has presented Australian pop princess Kylie Minogue with the Britain-Australia Society’s Award for 2016 during a private audience at Windsor Castle. The award is in recognition of the star’s contributions to Anglo-Australian relations.
“I’m a proud Aussie but Britain has a very strong place in my heart having lived and worked here for many years. The Society does a wonderful job to promote the rich cultural ties between the two countries and I am honoured to be recognised by them in this way,” Ms Minogue said following the audience, which took place in the White Drawing Room.
Ms Minogue – who received an OBE in 2008 – has been a household name in both countries since she rose to fame on Australia soap Neighbours in 1986.
The Duke has been patron of the Britain-Australia Society since 1970. The award was announced on Monday night during a ceremony at Australia House in London.
