Princess Beatrix of The Netherlands began her three-day visit to the Caribbean island of Aruba, arriving in the tiny nation with a large smile on her face.

Her first engagement was at the University of Aruba. The Princess, whose arrival outfit and day outfit were both in shades of blue, was present for a youth debate arranged by the Aruban Youth Parliament to debate the topics, ‘Economics vs Nature’ and ‘Tourism vs Identity’.

The purpose of her visit is to witness the handover of the Spanish Lagoon to the Arikok National Park. The Park is a member of the Dutch Caribbean Nature Alliance, one of the Princess’s patronages.
