Prince William Honours Slain Policeman At National Memorial Arboretum

The Duke of Cambridge paid tribute to the Metropolitan Police officer killed in last week’s Westminster terrorist attack during a visit to the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire on Wednesday.

“For PC Keith Palmer and all those who have served our community so valiantly; your legacy is our way of life,” read the card pinned to wreath of flowers the Duke laid in the Police Memorial Garden at the Arboretum. PC Palmer was killed by terrorist Khalid Masood outside the Houses of Parliament as he tried to stop him entering the compound.

Prince William, who is patron of the National Memorial Arboretum Future Foundations Appeal, was visiting the Arboretum to officially open the new £15.7 Remembrance Centre. He met with veterans from the three branches of the UK’s military, as well as local schoolchildren who were at the Arboretum to see the interactive ‘Landscapes of Life’ exhibition that provides “an introduction to the concept of remembrance and why it is an important human need”.
