Prince Charles Visits Westminster Attack Victims; Queen Appoints ‘Hero’ MP To Privy Council

The Prince of Wales spent time earlier today at King’s College Hospital where he met individuals injured in Wednesday’s terrorist attack in Westminster.

Five victims from the attack – which left four innocent people dead – are still being treated the hospital, among them university student Travis Frain, who posted a photograph of himself and Prince Charles on social media. The Prince asked “him how he was doing and asked him about his injuries”.

Charles also spoke with paramedics, doctors and nurses who treated the injured on the day and continue to provide them care as they start recovering. “Thank you for all your marvellous efforts…How you do it, I don’t know,” he said to them as he shook their hands and listened as they described the injuries suffered by the victims.

Doctors at the hospital were pleased with the Prince’s visit, saying that it was a “great boost” for patients and their families, as well as the staff on call.

Meanwhile, it was announced today that Queen Elizabeth has approved the appointments of MP Tobias Ellwood and MP Ben Wallace to the Privy Council in recognition of their responses in the immediate aftermath of the attack. Mr Ellwood, a former captain in the British Army, gave CPR to the fatally injured PC Kevin Palmer, while Mr Wallace assisted in the government’s response. As members of the Privy Council, they will now both be briefed on top-secret national security matters.
