Icelandic President Pays State Visit to Norway
The President of Iceland, Guðni Th. Jóhannesson, has paid a state visit to Norway this week, on the invitation of King Harald V.
The three-day visit began on Tuesday with an official welcoming ceremony in the Palace Square outside the Royal Palace of Oslo, where the President and the King inspected a guard of honour. Afterwards, inside the Palace, a photograph of the royal family – King Harald, Queen Sonja, the Crown Prince Couple and Princess Astrid – was taken with President Jóhannesson and his wife, Eliza Reid.
A series of engagements designed to foster long-standing relations between the two countries were held over the course of the visit. They included a literature project, panel discussions on gender equality, a visit to the National Library of Oslo, and marine sustainability.
