Swedes Host 2017’s First Representation Dinner
The first representation dinner for 2017 was held at the Royal Palace of Stockholm on Thursday evening, hosted by King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia.
As usual, guests were from a large cross section of Swedish society: government, the diplomatic corps, business, sports and science. They were received by the King and Queen, along with Crown Princess Victoria, Prince Daniel, Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia in the White Hall before dinner was served in Karl XI’s Gallery.
On the menu was butter-baked fish with caviar and a fennel sauce, fried Bresse pigeon with vegetables and green pepper sauce, and lemon cheesecake.
Queen Silvia wore a navy blue evening gown featuring a lace bodice, with the Connaught Diamond Tiara. Crown Princess Victoria recycled a emerald green sequinned Elie Saab gown with the Diamond Laurel Wreath Tiara, while Princess Sofia – whose second pregnancy was announced earlier in the day – wore a new deep red evening dress with the smaller of the family’s cut-steel tiaras.
