Don’t Mind The Weather, Ma’am! Sophie Wessex Visits Flying Eye Hospital
The Countess of Wessex was today out at Stansted Airport where she toured a the orbit Flying Eye Hospital in her role as Global Ambassador for the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness.
Sophie, who battled the rain and wind as she arrived on the tarmac, was given a tour of the flying hospital, which is a converted MD-10 cargo freighter. During the tour, she was shown a video that details how an operation can be completed onboard the aircraft.
The Orbis Flying Eye Hospital is used to fly specialists to developing countries in Africa, Latin America and Asia to perform eye surgeries, and share their knowledge and skills with local doctors.
