William and Kate Present Shamrocks To The Irish Guards
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have this morning presented the traditional shamrocks to the 1st Battalion Irish Guards in a ceremony at their barracks in Hounslow to mark St Patrick’s Day.
Among those receiving shamrock sprigs from William, who is the Colonel of the Regiment, and Catherine was the Regiment’s mascot, an Irish wolfhound named Domhnall. Following the presentation, the couple posed for the Sergeants’ and Officers’ Mess photos, before attending a reception with soldiers of the Regiment and their families.
Catherine wore a dark green double-breasted bespoke coat dress from Catherine Walker with a matching percher hat, while the Duke wore the black frock coat of the Regiment’s uniform.
The couple will travel to Paris later today for their two-day official visit to the French capital.
