Prince Harry Visits Epping Forest Conservation Project

Prince Harry made a visit to Epping Forest on Wednesday March 15, to see their conservation work and tour the Wood Pasture Restoration Project. Epping Forest has been dedicated to the Queen’s Commonwealth Canopy, an initiative designed to “create a global network of indigenous forests to benefit communities and wildlife” in honour of Queen Elizabeth’s lengthy service to the Commonwealth.

The Prince joined pupils from several local primary schools that visit the Forest to participate in conservation activities. They toured the restoration project with Park Rangers, and Harry was shown one of the Longhorn cows that is part of the project’s fenceless grazing initiative.

He joked with the students about his non-green thumbs, telling them how “his own daffodils had come out a bit too early” and therefore wouldn’t last very long.

To mark the visit and the Forest joining the QCC, Prince Harry also planted a tree underneath the Queen’s Oak Tree.
