Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel Mark End of Winter War Anniversary

On Monday March 13, at the Finland Monument in Stockholm’s Finland Park, Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Carl Philip participated in a commemoration of the end of the Winter War that was fought in 1939-1940. They were joined by the Finnish President, Sauli Niinistö.

The attendees laid wreaths at the base of the monument, erected to honour the memory of the Swedish volunteers who assisted Finnish troops during the Winter War against the Soviet Union.

Afterwards, Victoria and Carl Philip headed to the Embassy of Finland for a reception hosted by the President, at which veterans who served in the War were present. President Niinistö presented three Swedish volunteers with the Order of the White Rose of Finland, in the category Knight, First Class.
