Sophie Wessex Joins The Duke of Kent For ‘The Girls’ Gala Performance
At London’s Phoenix Theatre on Monday evening, the Countess of Wessex and the Duke of Kent were present for the gala performance of The Girls musical, based on the true story of the famed ‘Calendar Girls’ and produced by Gary Barlow and Tim Firth.
The performance was held in aid of Bloodwise, a charity founded in 1960 that funds research into blood cancers, of which the Duke is patron.
Sophie met with the original ‘Calendar Girls’, the Yorkshire women who created a nude calendar to raise money for leukaemia research that inspired the 2003 Calendar Girls movie, ahead of the performance.
