The Prince of Wales Hosts Holocaust and Genocide Survivors At St James’s

On Thursday at St James’s Palace in London, the Prince of Wales hosted a reception for survivors of the Holocaust and the genocides in Cambodia, Bosnia, Rwanda and Darfur.

Prince Charles was presented with the International Auschwitz Committee’s Statue of Remembrance during the reception, for his “work promoting tolerance and open-mindedness”. The statue is an inverted ‘B’, in honour of the resistance shown by prisoners at the Auschwitz-Birkenau Concentration Camp who inverted the ‘B’ in ‘Arbeit macht frei’ when they were making the infamous entrance gate to the camp.

Others attending the reception were members of the Holocaust Memorial Day Trust, of which the Prince is patron.
