Dutch King and Queen Host Dinner For German President
German President Joachim Gauck is continuing on his ‘farewell tour’ of Europe before he leaves the post in March. This evening he was a guest of King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima of the Netherlands at a dinner at Palace Noordeinde.
Official photos were released of the royal couple with President Gauck and his partner, Daniela Schadt.
The Queen once again showed her prowess at unearthing jewels from the royal vaults not seen for decades, wearing the diamond and ruby necklace from the Ruby Peacock Parure. Her wine red Valentino kaftan-style evening gown provided a simple, yet effective backdrop for the jewels.
The King and Queen will be spending a few days in Germany themselves from tomorrow, as they head a trade delegation to Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia.
