The Icelandic President and First Lady have continued their state visit to Denmark today, with a number of engagements around Copenhagen.

President Guðni Thorlacius Jóhannesson attended a seminar on food production and sustainability with Crown Prince Frederik, before visiting the State of Green partnership between the Danish governments and relevant energy sector organisations; and then the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea centre.

Meanwhile, Crown Princess Mary – wearing a black and grey cross-checked dress with plum-toned accessories and a petrol blue overcoat – and First Lady Eliza Reid – wearing a navy blue skirt and matching cape with a cream blouse – first had a meeting of The Mary Foundation before heading to the Tante Olgas Børnehus kindergarten. Here, the pair were shown how the ‘Reading Leg’ program developed by The Mary Foundation is implemented in the kindergarten to assist in the development of the students’ language skills.

The two women then visited UN City, the home of nine UN organisations in Copenhagen and the location of the largest non-food humanitarian warehouse in the globe.

At lunchtime, the couples were reunited for lunch at the Copenhagen Hospitality College, where they all taste-tested various Nordic dishes created by the College’s students specially for the occasion.

The President and First Lady hosted a thank-you dinner in the evening at North Atlantic House, which was attended by the Queen Margrethe and Prince Henrik, Crown Prince Couple, Prince Joachim and Princess Marie, and Princess Benedikte.
