Looking bright and cheery in a fuchsia coat and frock, Queen Elizabeth II this afternoon paid her annual visit to the Sandringham chapter of the Women’s Institute at West Newton Village Hall.

After being greeted by the chapter’s vice-president, Yvonne Browne, Her Majesty headed inside for tea, cakes and gingerbread with other members. Historian Lucy Worsley, known for her presentation of many historical documentaries on the BBC, was this year’s guest speaker.

The Queen has been a member of the Sandringham WI since 1943.
