William, Kate & Harry Continue Mental Health Campaign
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry have continued promoting their Head Together campaign that aims to reduce the stigma of mental health and encourage people to speak out when they need help.
Speaking at the meeting this morning – which was held as the first in the lead up to the 2017 London Marathon, that Heads Together has been chosen as the charity of the year for – the royal trio reiterated the importance of speaking to someone if you feel that your mental health is not as it should be.
“For too long it has been a case of ‘Keep Quiet and Carry On’. As a result, too many people have suffered in silence for too long, and the effects of this can be devastating…It is no exaggeration to say that conversations – simple conversations – can be life-changing: in a workplace, in your kitchen at home, with a friend, family member or colleague,” Prince William said, before Catherine (in a floral Erdem dress) spoke of a meeting she had last week at the Anna Freud Centre where one mother told her that “talking to [her] support worker was – in her words – like medicine.”
Prince Harry concluded the royals’ speeches, saying “At the heart of this campaign is our hope that no-one should be afraid to ask for help, and no-one should worry about knowing how to help.”
The trio also spent time meeting some of the individuals who will be running the London Marathon as part of the Heads Together team, for the charity partners of the campaign.
